For the most part, Season 5 has had a reasonably smooth start, apart from a few hitches, like tempering recipes carrying over from the last season to the current one. More recently, though, Diablo 4 players discovered a glitch that allowed them to gain 20+ levels after using the unique ability of The Umbracrux. This has prompted the game’s dev team to temporarily disable the Unique dagger’s ability, as announced by Adam Fletcher, Diablo’s global community development director.
In a post on the game’s official forums , Fletcher said, “The team was made aware of an issue where players were able to obtain a significant amount of experience while killing certain bosses with ‘The Umbracrux’ unique equipped.” “We will be disabling the unique power for this weapon while we work on a fix for this,” he continued. “This means players will no longer be able to spawn a shade totem with this weapon.
” However, you can still find it throughout Sanctuary and equip it, although it will be noticeably less effective without the special ability it provides. Once the devs have “finalized a fix,” they’ll re-enable the shade totem ability and will communicate it to the player base when possible. For those unaware of the leveling issue The Umbracrux caused, it all began from a Reddit post shared by user Neamins .
In it, they were facing the Kor Dragan stronghold boss as a level 29 Rogue (presumably equipped with The Umbracrux). After defeating said boss, they immediately leveled up from 29 all the way to 63, prompting plenty of surprised reactions from other players. But this isn’t the only instance of this happening; user Eiszaepfle similarly shared an image of them going from level 56 to 82 in a flash.
It’s unclear when The Umbracrux unique ability will be restored in Diablo 4 Season 5. However, it’ll likely return sooner rather than later, with the Vessel of Hatred DLC release date arriving soon.
