KOLKATA: A diabetes specialty hospital in Kolkata conducted ‘Mobile Instant Diabetes Check’ across Kolkata coinciding with the World Diabetes Day 2024 . The five day long instant diabetes screening by GD Hospital & Diabetes Institute (GDHDI) that concluded on Friday have benefitted close to 400 individuals. The hospital also launched an array of initiatives for raising awareness and promoting preventive measures for diabetes .
The mobile screening unit covered prominent locations like railway stations, bus stops, and busy intersections from Shyambazar to Gariahat. Through this effort, the Hospital aimed to encourage early detection and raise awareness about the importance of regular monitoring. A significant highlight of the initiative was the Continuing Medical Education (CME) session, bringing together experts, medical professionals, and community health leaders.
Chaired by Prof. Dr Sukumar Mukherjee , Chairman of the hospital, the session featured distinguished speakers, including Dr Nilanjan Sengupta and Dr Shaibal Chakraborty, Chief Medical Advisor. The CME offered an in-depth discussion on diabetes management , recent advances in treatment, and preventive approaches.
