Sunday, August 4, 2024 Destination Toronto has selected PR Central as its representative in the Mexican market to enhance demand and sales through travel trade channels. This strategic partnership aims to elevate Toronto’s status as a premier destination for leisure FIT and group travel programs. PR Central will work on enhancing the knowledge of Mexican travel professionals about Toronto through various in-market sales activities.

These activities include destination training, familiarization tours, and trade marketing partnerships. The goal is to increase visitor arrivals from Mexico to Toronto. In 2023, over 83,000 Mexicans visited Toronto, contributing approximately $132 million to the local economy.

Notably, Mexico is the only international market to have exceeded pre-pandemic visitation levels to Toronto. “Mexico is a top international market for Toronto and we see an opportunity to build upon the momentum of its strong recovery,” said Andrew Weir , President & CEO of Destination Toronto. “Toronto’s diverse culinary scene, unique attractions and luxury experiences are all a draw for Mexican travellers.

We are committed to growing the Mexican visitor market for Toronto in partnership with Mexican tour operators and travel trade partners.” The Global Traveller Research Program 2023 indicates that Mexican travelers prioritize experiencing local food and drink, as well as fine dining, among their top four vacation activities. This aligns perfectly with Toronto’s vibrant culinary scene, which boasts everything from neighborhood gems to Michelin Guide selections.

Toronto, Canada’s largest city, stands out for its incredible diversity, showcased through its cuisine, arts and culture, retail, festivals, and entertainment across more than 140 unique neighborhoods. As a gateway to the rest of Canada, Toronto offers easy access to the Niagara wine region and the iconic Niagara Falls, enhancing its appeal as a premier travel destination. “Thanks to its vibrant cosmopolitan atmosphere, the iconic CN Tower, its international cuisine, and its excellent connectivity with various regions of the country, Toronto has established itself as one of the most important Canadian destinations for the Mexican market,” said Alethia García , Managing Partner of PR Central.

“It is a great pleasure to once again promote Toronto to the Mexican market.” Mexican travelers can easily reach Toronto’s Pearson Airport with direct flights from Mexico City and Monterrey. Pearson Airport, an international hub, offers convenient access to Union Station via the UP Express, a dedicated air-rail link that transports passengers to the downtown core in just 25 minutes.
