Pune: A truck driver from Rewa in Madhya Pradesh was arrested on the charge of ramming his vehicle into an eatery and two cars on Friday night after he was denied service at the establishment in Indapur because he had consumed liquor. The steel-laden truck was going from Hyderabad to Pune with the consignment. The 26-year-old truck driver, Amitkumar Jokulal Patel, had stopped for a meal at the eatery on Pune-Solapur highway, around 145km from the city.

According to the Indapur police, the eatery manager, Mayur Dudhbhate, filed a complaint later on Friday night. Inspector Suryakant Kokane of the Indapur police said, “Dudhbhate was outside the eatery when Patel arrived in his truck. When Patel was about to enter the eatery after parking his truck, Dudhbhate noticed that the former was heavily intoxicated and unable to walk properly.

The eatery owner told Patel that families were inside the eatery and he cannot be served at the same place. He also told Patel that the eatery does not serve alcohol.” Dudhbhate refused Patel entry to the eatery though the latter insisted that he was hungry and needed food.

Patel then told the eatery owner, “Ab mein gadi se kya karta hu, dikhata hu tujhe” (I shall now show you what I can do with my vehicle).” Patel subsequently drove his truck onto the highway, re-entered the eatery premises and rammed its porch, decorations, railings and two cars around 8pm. The incident created panic among customers in the eatery and passersby.
