1 of 1 2 of 1 Think of it as a possible death punch—a master blow making it clear which party is on the side of all things beautiful, hopeful, and star-powered, and which party has to settle for Kid Rock, Ted Nugent, and the tone-deaf horrorshow known as Roseanne Barr. To spend time on Elon Musk’s own personal vanity platform today is to feel the almost unbearable excitement of tonight’s wrap-up for the Democratic National Convention. The anticipation is all about who will be stealing the show.

Somewhat counterintuitively, it seems unlikely the answer will be Kamala Harris, Tim Walz, or Tim Walz’s impossibly inspirational son Gus, who today has given the world yet another reason to wonder why God continues to let Ann Coulter exist on this planet. Instead the betting odds are on not one, but two of the most famous women on the planet crashing the party. Which makes sense considering both are—spiritually, if not declaratively—in the corner of a woman who, if America has anything resembling a soul left, will make history this November.

The one whose DNC appearance seems to be a given is Beyoncé, fresh off delivering a beautifully placed kick in the balls to Donald Trump yesterday. In case you need some background there, evidently looking to show America that everyone’s least-favourite Mango Mussolini is a pop music fan, Republican strategists recently released a video of Trump walking off a plane to Queen Bey’s “Freedom”. The 2016 smash is a central song for Harris’ campaign—with, importantly, Beyoncé’s blessing.

In the other camp, however, before you could say “Fook Chrissmasss” in a weird Slovenian accent, Trump and his people were slapped with a cease-and-desist “Freedom” order. Immediately, the video was yanked from social media. Score another victory for team Harris, whose supporters have recently taken to wearing “Cowboy Kamala” sashes in reference to Beyoncé’s 2024 album Cowboy Carter .

While rumours fly on X and elsewhere that Bey will be taking to the stage at the DNC, neither the singer nor the campaign’s team will confirm or deny that. Which, weirdly, adds to the hope that another rumour might be true. There’s maybe one person on the planet with more star wattage than Beyoncé in 2024, and she’s made it known in the past that she’s not voting for Donald Trump.

She also happily endorsed Joe Biden in 2020. Please welcome Taylor Swift. Having just wrapped up a run of summer dates for her record-setting Eras Tour, Swift has a little time on her hands before heading to Florida, and then Canada, for a late-fall run of shows that will include dates in Toronto and Vancouver .

Calling Swift a pop singer at this point in the game seems like wildly underselling things. The 34-year-old billionaire is more of an unstoppable multinational brand—one that’s all about the power of being relentlessly positive, empowering, and inspiring. Kind of like, if one thinks of it, the exact opposite of everything that Donald Trump seems to stand for.

If Twitter...

errr, X...

is to be believed (and, really, when has it ever been a platform for lies?), Beyoncé might very well be walking out hand-in-hand with a special wing woman tonight—one who’s sold seven million tickets (and counting) for her Eras Tour. For every Swift fan who scored a ticket, there are 10, 20, or 50 global Swifties who were left cursing Ticketmaster. She commands an army that worships her like a God.

That makes her a nuclear weapon in the race for the White House. And what better place for that weapon to be rolled out than the Democratic National Convention, which all eyes will be on tonight? The past few weeks have cast the Orange Man as a one-term White House loser who no longer has strategy for winning the fight he’s found himself in. Cue the one-two death punch.
