Friday, August 30, 2024 Delta partner Aeromexico celebrates 90 years in Mexico with fresh liveries on 737-9 and Embraer E190, highlighting the airline’s enduring legacy. Aeromexico recently introduced two distinctive liveries to mark its 90th-anniversary celebrations. One of these special liveries, spotted by Preston Fiedler, was seen on a 737-9 aircraft with the registration XA-GQS at Boeing Field.

Aeromexico introduced a fresh livery on August 28 to commemorate its 90th anniversary, with the first aircraft featuring the new design being an Embraer E190, registered as XA-IAC. This updated livery includes a refined version of the Caballero Águila, the iconic symbol displayed on the airline’s aircraft tails. The new logo represents the evolution of the Aeromexico brand, embodying warmth, dynamism, modernity, and the spirit of contemporary Mexico.

Additionally, the redesigned Caballero Águila features a more human-like face, symbolizing closeness and empathy. This change reflects Aeromexico’s commitment to strengthening connections with its customers, stakeholders, and partners. On August 21, Aeromexico revealed a unique livery on one of its Boeing 737 MAX 9 aircraft, named ‘Kukulcán’ after the Mayan feathered serpent deity, revered as the god of the winds.

The design for this special livery was created by Edgar Flores, also known as ‘Saner,’ a renowned Mexican artist celebrated for his work inspired by the folklore, colors, and mysticism of Mexican culture. The aircraft’s vibrant design features various iconic elements such as flowers, birds, and endemic species, reflecting the rich cultural heritage and traditions of Mexico. The aircraft, registered as XA-GQS, proudly showcases these cultural references through its striking appearance.

According to data from ch-aviation, Aeromexico currently has six aircraft pending delivery in its backlog, consisting of two 737 MAX 8 and four 737 MAX 9 models. The records also reveal that out of these six aircraft, three have already completed their first flights—specifically, the two 737 MAX 8 and one 737 MAX 9. The two 737 MAX 8s completed their first flights on June 11 and August 5, while the larger 737 MAX 9 variant took to the skies for the first time on July 28, suggesting that these three deliveries may be imminent.

According to ch-aviation, each of these aircraft has been ordered by different lessors: Air Lease Corporation (ALC), DAE Capital, and Jackson Square Aviation..
