Summary Delta Air Lines will switch its year-round service to Stuttgart Airport (STR) to being seasonal-only. The airline also previously cut all flights from/to Dusseldorf Airport (DUS). However, the carrier will serve three more weekly flights to Germany in summer 2025.

Delta Air Lines has continued to cut its flights to Germany, this time axing flights to Stuttgart Airport (STR) from October during the winter. Left without transatlantic routes As first spotted by Ishrion Aviation on X, formerly known as Twitter, Delta Air Lines will cut its four-weekly flights between Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport (ATL) and STR starting October 26, coinciding with the last day of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) summer season. Data from the aviation analytics company Cirium showed that Delta Air Lines was the only airline serving transatlantic flights from STR, with its first flights taking off from the German airport to ATL in April 2023.

Since then, the airline served the route four times per week with a Boeing 767-300ER that was capable of carrying 216 passengers, split between 18 first, 26 business, and 172 economy class seats. In September 2022, Delta Air Lines announced that it would be adding flights to STR and Düsseldorf Airport (DUS), another German airport. This transatlantic network expansion is Delta's most extensive one yet.

Seasonal service However, flights to DUS, which were served from ATL and New York John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) , only lasted until October 2023, with the airline axing its flights to the German city since. Similarly to DUS, STR will not have any direct flights to the US during the upcoming IATA winter season, with the former airport losing all of its direct connectivity to the country across the Atlantic Ocean.

At the same time, Delta Air Lines still plans to return to STR during the upcoming IATA summer season in 2025, with Cirium data showing the airline’s plans to restart these flights in April 2025. It plans to operate four weekly flights, once again using the 767-300ER that it has used to serve the route since April 2023. Delta's first flight to Germany took place in 1979.

Delta Air Lines’ Germany network In total, Delta Air Lines has scheduled 46 weekly flights from Germany to the US in August, resulting in 10,391 weekly seats and 72 million weekly available seat kilometers (ASK). The carrier’s transatlantic network from the European country during the month is displayed below: In comparison, the airline has 117 weekly departures from AMS, with the flight network encompassing eight different destinations in the US. Nevertheless, by November, Delta Air Lines only plans to serve two airports in Germany, Frankfurt Airport (FRA) and Munich Airport (MUC), with 24 weekly flights to ATL, Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport (DTW), and JFK.

Preliminary data showed that in July 2025, the carrier will slightly expand its weekly number of itineraries to Germany (from 46 in August to 49), with Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER) appearing on its route network in addition to the three aforementioned German airports. It comes as the carrier announces new European routes, including Atlanta to Zurich..
