Summary Delta Air Lines will offer new nonstop flights between New York-JFK and Palm Springs in December. The flight will only operate once a week until Spring of next year. The carrier will deploy its Airbus A220-300 on the route, accommodating 130 passengers.

Atlanta-based Delta Air Lines will be offering a new transcontinental route this winter. Beginning in December, the carrier will commence nonstop flights between its hub at John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) in New York and Palm Springs International Airport (PSP) in Southern California.

The service will be seasonal, with flights scheduled until the spring of next year. It will be the first time Delta has operated the route, and it will go head-to-head with its Pacific Northwest rival: Alaska Airlines. Flight details Delta will launch the route on December 21st, and it will only have Saturday frequencies through May 3, 2025.

DL1014 is scheduled to be a PSP turn, meaning it will operate in both directions. The westbound leg is scheduled to depart JFK just before 09:00 and arrive at PSP just before 11:00. The eastbound leg has a scheduled departure time of 12:50 from PSP and will land at JFK just after 20:30.

, the Executive Director at PSP, spoke about the new service. “We are looking forward to Delta expanding their services from Palm Springs. Their new service to JFK not only boosts our connectivity to the East Coast but also brings a high level of comfort and convenience to our passengers.

This is a wonderful addition to our growing list of air service options.” Onboard the A220-300 The airline will utilize its Airbus A220-300 on the route, which accommodates 130 passengers in a two-class configuration. In first class, there are 12 recliner seats in a 2-2 layout.

The seats have a width of 20.5 inches and a pitch of 37 inches. The main cabin comprises 118 seats in a 2-3 layout.

30 Delta Comfort+ seats have 18.6 inches of width and 34 inches of pitch, while the remaining 88 standard seats also feature a width of 18.6 inches, but have a pitch ranging from 31 to 33 inches depending on where the passenger is seated.

Unique to the A220 is that there is a window in the lavatory. Delta has been a pioneer in many things, but few know that the Atlanta based carrier was one of the pioneers in live TV streaming. The aircraft is also equipped with WiFi, allowing passengers to surf the web or stream their favorite music, TV show, or movie.

They can keep their devices charged as each seat features USB in-seat power ports and AC power outlets. There are also personal screens on each seatback with live satellite TV for even more inflight entertainment (IFE) options. Competition with Alaska With Saturday-only flights, Delta’s capacity on the route is significantly under Alaska’s.

The Seattle-based carrier will operate daily flights between PSP and JFK on its Boeing 737 aircraft. It will be the second year of operating the seasonal route after inaugurating it last year. Alaska’s 737s are also equipped with WiFi, USB, and AC power ports, but do not have seatback screens.

Instead, travelers are encouraged to stream IFE to their own devices. This marks PSP’s third new air service launch, which shows that the airport’s network is growing with increased demand. This winter, United Airlines will operate new service between PSP and Washington Dulles International Airport on its 737 MAX 8 aircraft.

The flights will operate through the Spring of next year..
