Wednesday, August 14, 2024 On August 15, Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport will restrict non-scheduled flights from 6:00 AM to 10:00 AM and 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM for Independence Day security. On August 15, as part of the Independence Day celebrations, Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport will impose restrictions on non-scheduled flights during specific timeframes to ensure heightened security. According to a report by news agency PTI, non-scheduled flights, including those operated by private jets and some scheduled airlines, will be prohibited from taking off or landing between 6:00 AM and 10:00 AM and later from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM.

Scheduled commercial flights will not be affected by these restrictions and will continue to operate as planned. Exemptions are also in place for aircraft operated by the Indian Air Force (IAF), Border Security Force (BSF), Army aviation helicopters, and state-owned aircraft. Furthermore, flights carrying Governors, Chief Ministers, or those involved in emergency medical evacuations or critical response missions will not be subject to these limitations.

The Airports Authority of India (AAI), through its Aeronautical Information Services (AIS), has issued a NOTAM (Notice to Airmen) to inform aviation personnel of these temporary flight restrictions. NOTAMs serve as essential communications for notifying flight operations teams about any changes that might impact air traffic. As the busiest airport in India, Delhi’s airport will also implement stricter security protocols throughout the day in preparation for Independence Day.

Enhanced security measures have been put in place in anticipation of the event, and travelers are urged to arrive at the airport with ample time to navigate these additional security procedures. Passengers are advised to adjust their travel plans accordingly and to be prepared for increased security checks. Cooperation with airport authorities will be crucial to ensure smooth operations on this significant day.

This notice serves as a reminder for all travelers and aviation personnel to stay informed about the latest developments and to adhere to the guidelines set forth to maintain safety and security during the Independence Day celebrations..
