Thursday, July 18, 2024 As the DeLand SunRail Station gears up for its grand opening, the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is thrilled to announce two Train Tour events aimed at giving local residents a firsthand look at the benefits of the new rail system. Event Information: Dates: Saturday, July 27, 2024, and Saturday, August 3, 2024 Time: 9 a.m.
– Noon Location: DeLand SunRail Station, 2491 Old New York Avenue, DeLand, FL 32720 Community members from DeLand and surrounding areas are encouraged to join these complimentary sessions. Attendees will have the chance to walk through the nearly completed station and step inside the stationary SunRail trains. The objective is to address questions from the public and showcase the convenience SunRail offers for daily commutes and travel.
David Cooke, the District Five Rail Administration Manager for the FDOT, expressed his enthusiasm: “This is an excellent chance for DeLand residents to explore the trains, receive detailed responses to their inquiries, and see firsthand how SunRail can simplify their commuting experience.” Participants can choose either date to join and are welcome to arrive at any time during the scheduled hours. SunRail representatives will be on hand to provide guidance and information.
