One of the most recognisable faces from long-running soap opera “Days of Our Lives,” actor Drake Hogestyn, has died. He was 70. In a statement posted by his family on the show’s official Instagram account, they confirmed he passed away after a battle with pancreatic cancer.

In the statement they say: “After putting up an unbelievable fight, he passed peacefully surrounded by loved ones. He was the most amazing husband, father, papa and actor. He loved performing for the Days audience and sharing the stage with the greatest cast, crew, and production team in the business.



We love him and we will miss him all the Days of our Lives.” Hogestyn first appeared on “Days of Our Lives” in 1986 and played the role initially of the presumed dead Roman Brady who was later revealed to be John Black. For 38 years he appeared in more than 4,200 episodes of the series and his pairing with Deidre Hall’s Marlena Evans has been one of the most famous ‘supercouples’ in all of soap opera.

He also starred in a few other screen works like “Criminal Minds,” “Otherworld” and “Seven Brides for Seven Brothers”. He leaves behind three daughters and a son. Source:.
