QUEENSBURY—David Wayne “Dave” Howard, a beloved Father, Partner, Grandfather, Brother, Uncle and Neighbor passed away August 19, 2024 in his home in Queensbury, NY. Born to John Vernon and Norma Virginia Howard on July 31, 1958. Dave was a true good neighbor to anyone he met.

His life and legacy were deeply interwoven within his community by keenly identifying anyone who was in need, and offering a helping hand. Dave’s early years were shared with his four siblings in South Glens Falls where he experienced a tapestry of memories filled with laughter and adventures fishing, camping, and exploring the Adirondack Mountains. Dave was a South High Bulldog, graduating from South Glens Falls High School in 1976.

Dave enjoyed working on things and it was no surprise that he chose to join a trade where he could pursue his passions. After completing a rigorous Apprenticeship Program for the Local 229 Carpenters Union, he enjoyed many years of working as a skilled Carpenter and Millwright. He was very proud of the work projects he and his teammates accomplished.

Dave experienced many joys in his life, never faltering in expressing his greatest pride and joy, his daughter, Kristina Swift. He remained her number one fan throughout his life. When Dave walked Kristy down the “aisle of Sand” at her beautiful beach wedding, he knew she had found the love of her life, her protector, in her husband John.

He was honored to have him as his son in-law. Dave was blessed with loving relationships during his life. His Partner, Judy Cook meant the world to him.

“Dave and Judy” deeply supported one another and cherished life in a very precious manner. Dave was incredibly proud of all of Judy’s three children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. An avid outdoorsman, Dave found peace at the banks of a river or lake.

His hobbies included fishing, teaching the Grandkids to fish, and planning the next time he would fish. Dave’s spirit of generosity extended to all who knew him. He had a way of connecting with people like no other.

He cared deeply for everyone. He had great wit, and was incredibly uplifting. No matter how you were feeling at the beginning of the conversation you felt loved and supported after speaking with Dave.

Dave is predeceased by his parents, John and Norma Howard, his sister, Kileen Jo Howard, and his wife, Nancy Howard. Dave is survived by his daughter, Kristina Swift and husband, John Swift; his partner, Judy Cook; his siblings: Steven, Tom and Patty; and many adoring grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Dave’s story is one of courage and love.

He will be deeply missed, and his memory will be kept alive by all of the hearts he touched in his lifetime. A Celebration of Life will be held from 4:00 p.m.

to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, August 30, 2024 at the VFW at 32 Luzerne Rd.
