For most people, getting their favourite meal delivered to them whilst on board a luxury private jet is nothing more than a pie in the sky. But David Beckham was once forced to deny that he had done exactly that after it was reported that he had spent no less than £1,000 on one dish in particular. After an impressive football career which saw him win six Premier League titles, a Champions League and a host of individual accolades amongst other things, Beckham has gone on to enjoy a successful career in business and fashion.

He is certainly no stranger to luxury - but for all his high-end indulgences, the 49-year-old has also always been known to be partial to a good pie. Indeed back in 2015, reports began circulating that the former England and Man United legend had forked out a small fortune to have his favourite dish of pie and mash brought to him in an unusual location. Beckham had allegedly been on board a private flight from the UK to America where he had asked for the meal to be specially prepared for him.

The Sun reported that he had ordered it from Tony's Pie and Mash Shop in Waltham Abbey, Essex. And while their pie normally cost a very reasonable £4.45, the cost of bringing it to Becks on his luxury jet meant the price skyrocketed to a whopping £1,000.

The manager of catering company On Air Dining David Hulme had told The Sun: "A sports star who used to fly back and forth from London while based in the US wanted pie and mash with green liquor. "It cost over £1,0.
