Photo: Contributed Stargazing enthusiasts of all ages are welcome to join "Lights Out Naramata," an outdoor picnic this weekend celebrating the night sky. On Friday, Sept 20 at 6:30 p.m.

at Manitou park, join the barbecue sponsored by the Community Foundation of South Okanagan Neighbourhood Small Grants while the stars come out. There will be hamburgers, veggie burgers and hot dogs, activities for kids, and local night sky enthusiasts with their telescopes. Then, as the sunset continues, Naramatians are all encouraged to turn off their lights from 8:30 to 9:30 p.



m. to see just how dark the skies can get around the village, and what wonders can be spotted. "Let's turn off the lights and enjoy the beauty of the night sky together.

Whether you're a seasoned astronomer or just love a good picnic, this event is perfect for everyone," reads the event description. "Don't miss out on this special opportunity to connect with nature and each other in a unique way." Attendance is free, though organizers request that those interest reserve a free ticket so they have an idea of numbers for provided food.
