Prayagraj: In keeping with the tradition of presenting unique pandals (temporary structures under which Durga idols are placed during Durgotsav ), this year the pandal of Darbhanga Colony Puja Committee, Prayagraj , is inspired by the ‘Pagoda' – a multi-storied tower-like structure associated with Buddhist temple complexes usually found in East and Southeast Asia. The entire body of the Pagoda of this 66-year-old Barwari will be painted in golden colour, resembling the ‘ Golden Pagoda ' - a Buddhist temple in Myanmar. The interiors and exteriors of the pandal will be put together by expert artisans from Nadia district of West Bengal.

"The Durgotsav event not only enables us to showcase traditional art and culture but also provides an opportunity and avenue to emerging talents. As our pandal is based on a special theme every year, this year we decided to showcase the beauty of the Golden Pagoda of Myanmar," said the secretary of this Barwari, Debobroto Basu. Moreover, with an eye on the safety and security of the devotees, the puja committee will install around 15 CCTV cameras around the venue and ensure strict adherence to all fire safety measures as per the guidelines issued by the district administration.

The event shall be formally opened to the public on the evening of October 8, said Basu..
