Dannii Minogue was visibly moved when she spoke of her sister Kylie's fight with cancer. On ABC's Take 5, the conversation with host Zan Rowe turned emotional as Dannii, at the age of 52, divulged details about Kylie's arduous experience with breast cancer. Diagnosed in May 2005, the pop icon faced her illness head-on, undergoing a lumpectomy and promptly beginning chemotherapy.
Following the procedure, and without further occurrence of the disease, Kylie made a heartfelt appearance at the Royal Children's Hospital in Melbourne to visit a children's cancer ward, just two months post-surgery. Subsequently, she continued her treatment in France, completing her chemotherapy in January 2006, publicly announced by her spokesperson. In a poignant discussion with Zan, Dannii recounted that time: "My sister got sick with breast cancer and she was in the middle of a tour.
" She struggled with emotion as she revealed: "I remember her getting carried off stage and stuff. When I would go and visit her when she was having chemo and was very, very unwell. I would just jump around to music with her.
", reports the Mirror . Adding that it was their shared love for music that helped sustain them, Dannii shared Kylie's determination: "It was music that kept us going and she was like, 'I need to finish the tour! ' Like, she's so professional. We were like, 'Oh for god's sake, we need to keep you alive! ' We knew that was her goal to get back and honour all those tickets.
