Facebook Twitter WhatsApp SMS Email Print Copy article link Save FRISCO, Texas — The current trajectory of the Dallas Cowboys' season suggests there were already scarce reasons for Dak Prescott to rush back from injury, but on Wednesday his head coach emphasized the significance of the quarterback's next steps anyway. "The most important thing he needs to do," Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy said, "is focus on the surgery, the rehab and just going through that process.

" Prescott, a former Haughton star, had that surgery for his hamstring injury in New York on Wednesday and the procedure went well, a person with knowledge of the quarterback's status told The Dallas Morning News. McCarthy said he communicated with Prescott prior to the operation, though the two "really haven't had that conversation yet" about what the 2025 season will look like. Prescott last played in the Cowboys' loss to the Atlanta Falcons two weeks ago.

Prescott met with a specialist in New York on Monday to get a second opinion on his partially torn hamstring. He had originally wanted to avoid surgery so that he could return this season but, according to owner Jerry Jones, "he's got doctors that are very familiar with how to repair that, and his prognosis is wonderful." Wednesday's surgery marked the second season-ending injury in Prescott's last fiv.
