Something we all assumed and hoped for in Deadpool & Wolverine has now been confirmed. Dafne Keen, the actress who reprised her role as X-23 in the smash Marvel hit, confirmed in a new interview that the version of the character we see is not a variant. It’s the same one we saw in Logan.

“[Shawn Levy and Ryan Reynolds told me] you’re not a variant. You went along with the kids for a few years [after the events of Logan ] and then you got zapped, and you’ve been in the TVA for a few years now,” Keen told ComicBook’s Phase Zero podcast. “You lost your accent because you were in America for a while .

.. you’re a very intelligent kid, you learned English while you were with Logan .

.. To you, you are Logan’s Laura, and so seeing this person again is like ‘Whoa, this is my Dad who I haven’t seen in years.

'” Here’s the clip. Certainly watching the movie, this is your assumption. The very nature of the multiverse is there are infinite versions of every character, many of which are similar.

Since we’ve seen the events of Logan though, if X-23 was a variant version, it would lose some impact. By making sure she is that version, the events of Logan carry even more meaning—and when she finally unleashes herself in Deadpool & Wolverine , it’s that much more exciting. Now, of course, this is only what Levy and Reynolds told Keen.

It was their intention and how she played the role. But, since it’s not directly confirmed in the text of the film, Marvel could change it if they wanted to. But why change it? The journey fits in with everything both films are saying and now that we’ve seen she’s out and back in her original universe of Earth 10005, the possibilities are endless.

Was this your assumption coming out of Deadpool & Wolverine ? Are you glad to have it confirmed?.
