Peeling vegetables before cooking can be incredibly time-consuming and can put off many people from making homecooked meals, but it turns out there is a more efficient method. You are probably confident you know how to use a peeler, but it turns out most of us have been using it wrong as you should not be peeling vegetables in only one direction. Carolyn J.

Braden, a cook and founder of Carolyns Blooming Creations has shared that you should be pulling a peeler backwards and forwards so that vegetables are peeled in half the time. She said: “Here is my quick tip on how to peel carrots and potatoes faster! I used to peel them going in one direction. This worked, but it took longer.



“I peel carrots and potatoes in a continuous up and down motion. It really does cut the time in half.” Do not bring a peeler to the top of the vegetable, bring it down and keep repeating this step as not only is it much slower but more frustrating as it results in more work.

Instead, it is much easier to slide the peeler back and forth along the middle of the vegetable as the peel will fly off. This incredibly simple cooking method will make preparing ingredients faster and cause less strain on your hands when using a peeler.
