We’re in the doldrums of Summer for now as two newcomers both fizzled on arrival. Zoe Kravitz’s thriller “Blink Twice” came out on top with a $2.9 million gross on Friday ahead of a $7.

1 million opening weekend start domestically in fourth place. With a budget of just $20 million and a limited market spend, it’ll come out OK. “The Crow” on the other hand seems to have birdflu.

The reboot of the supernatural thriller franchise debuted in eighth place with $2 million on Friday ahead of a $4-5 million three-day gross. That is below already quite meager expectations for the film which scored scathing critical reviews and a disappointing B- from audiences. Combined with a $50 million budget cost – it’s a bomb.

“Deadpool & Wolverine” remains on top this weekend with a further $17.8 million in its fifth weekend while “Alien: Romulus” is in second with $16 million for its third weekend. “It Ends With Us” is third with $11.

9 million, and Sony’s faith-based title “The Forge” was fifth with $6.4 million. The “Coraline” re-release also continues to do well with $5.

1 million and a $24.1 million gross so far..
