Pune: Cybercrooks siphoned off Rs22 lakh from the bank account of a woman shopkeeper (33) from Narhe on 5 Sept. She filed a complaint with the Sinhagad Road police on Tuesday after the Pune cybercrime police verified her complaint application that she had filed soon after the incident. Senior inspector Raghvendra Kshirsagar of Sinhagad Road police said, "The woman shopkeeper runs a business of online money transfer .
She had received a sum of Rs25 lakh from one of her clients on the morning of 5 Sept." "She neither shared the details of her current bank account nor any PIN or ATM card details with anyone. She had checked her computers and mobile phones and we did not find any suspicious file like any remote access software," he said.
Kshirsagar said, "We suspect that the fraudsters temporarily took control of her computer and then immediately restored her programmes after siphoning off the sum of Rs 22 lakh." "We also suspect that her bank account was compromised by the fraudsters," he said. "The money has gone to eight different bank accounts and we are further probing the case," he said.
