Monday, September 9, 2024 Croatia has experienced a remarkable surge in tourism this year, with 16.9 million tourist arrivals and 89.4 million overnight stays recorded in the first eight months, marking a notable four per cent rise in arrivals and a one per cent increase in overnight stays compared to the same period last year.

This growth in tourism was highlighted by a Croatian tourism official during a press briefing on Monday, signaling the country’s continued appeal as a top European destination. Germany, Slovenia, and Austria emerged as the leading contributors to Croatia’s tourism, with 2.5 million, 1.

4 million, and 1.26 million visitors, respectively, from January to August. Croatia’s Minister of Tourism and Sports, Tonci Glavina, emphasized the significance of these numbers at a recent press conference.

Glavina also pointed out that the tourism sector’s positive momentum is projected to boost Croatia’s tourism revenue, with the Croatian National Bank estimating a four per cent increase, potentially reaching a record-breaking 15.2 billion euros (16.78 billion US dollars) this year.

In addition to these figures, Croatia’s tourism industry has been actively expanding its offerings to attract a more diverse range of travelers. New investments in luxury resorts, eco-friendly accommodations, and adventure tourism are drawing in not only repeat visitors but also new demographics. This focus on sustainable tourism, coupled with Croatia’s stunning natural landscapes and cultural heritage, ensures that the country will continue to thrive as a premier travel destination.

As the tourism season extends into the cooler months, the sector is poised to set even more impressive records..
