Viewers tuning into watch series 2 of the acclaimed drama Sherwood may spot some familiar locations - including a social club in the heart of Morris Green. The BBC drama starring David Morrisey returns tonight (Sunday) on BBC 1 and although much of the series was filmed in and around Nottingham, a number of scenes were shot in this region. The first series of Sherwood was shown in June 2022, with scenes filmed in Rivington .

(Image: PA) and filming in Morris Green Broadcast in June 2022, the drama was a huge hit with the Guardian giving it a five-star review and the Telegraph calling it the "best BBC drama of the year". The show is set in a Nottinghamshire village which is still haunted by divisions from the miners’ strike.

(Image: PA/ Contributed) Meanwhile, a newly appointed Sheriff of Nottingham is passionately fighting against a proposed new coal mine for the area, which brings the promise of much needed jobs and prosperity but also unwelcome reminders of the legacy that has mired the community for so long. Locations included filming at the Ellesmere Road Social Club in Morris Green in September last year, creating excitement in the area.

Returning to the area for series two , production teams were spotted along Elliott Street in Tyldesley earlier this summer, as well as around Victoria Mill in Atherton this week.
