Media Release Mangaluru, Feb 5: On the feast of presentation of the Lord, the Conference of Religious India (CRI), Mangalore unit, witnessed a historic and spirit-filled celebration as 675 men and women religious from various congregations gathered to mark the World Day for Consecrated Life with grandeur and deep spiritual fervour on February 2, at St Aloysius University (Deemed to be) Campus, Mangaluru. The day commenced with a solemn Eucharistic celebration, presided over by Fr Daniel Veigas OP, episcopal vicar for Religious of Mangaluru, along with 16 concelebrating religious priests from different congregations. The sight of sisters, fathers, and brothers processing into the hall, each carrying a lighted candle, created a solemn and sacred ambiance, symbolizing their commitment to being the light of Christ in the world.

In a poignant moment following the homily, the religious of the diocese of Mangalore reconsecrated themselves with a heartfelt prayer of consecration, renewing their vows and dedication to their spiritual calling. To mark the significance of the jubilee year, the Eucharistic celebration concluded with a special jubilee prayer of Pope Francis, invoking blessings for continued faith and mission. A day of reflection and celebration The post-Mass programme began with Anita Frank, secretary of the Women’s Commission of Mangalore Diocese, who graciously welcomed the gathering as the master of ceremonies.
