Brent Clifford, 55, was taken into custody on an active warrant in a joint effort between the Reno Police Department, the Placer County Sheriff's Office and Plumas County Sheriff's Office, authorities said, according to the Reno Gazette-Journal . He was subsequently booked into the Placer County Jail in connection with murder, according to the sheriff's office.



Officials said that police had been looking for Brent Clifford as a 'person of interest' in the shooting, in which a man named William F. Andrews, 68, was found fatally shot in the head inside a Reno residence, according to the paper. Authorities were also pursuing Clifford in connection with the missing person case involving his girlfriend Patricia Portella-Wright, 48, who was believed to have been found dead Thursday, after she was reported missing to authorities August 9.

Rose Highway early Thursday, the outlet reported .

Police said that they received a report of suspicious circumstances Sunday morning at a home on Keystone Avenue in Reno, according to the paper, where Andrews - who authorities believe was a friend of Brent Clifford's - had been found fatally shot. Police said they recovered a 2003 red Chevrolet Blazer linked to the shooting investigation that Andrews owned and Clifford left in.

In the disappearance of Portella-Wright, officials said that the last person she was seen with was Brent Clifford, who she's believed to be dating, the outlet reported. Portella-Wright physically was described as 5-foot-9, with blond hair and brown eyes, at a weight of around 125 pounds. The Placer County Sheriff's Office said that in regards to Portella-Wright's identity, it was waiting on confirmation from medical examiners.

The sheriff's office said that information gleaned amid a probe of the disappearance led them to Mt. Rose Highway, according to the paper. Portella-Wright's friend and employer Lisa Eadington told ABC10 Wednesday that she had reported her missing after she missed work. Eadington said Portella-Wright's friends and family had been worried and concerned for her safety: 'She is loved by her family and her friends and missed terribly, not only by all of us, but all of our customers in our gallery.' TMZ reported that while officials did not link Brent Clifford to his father, they had reviewed 'public records indicating' they are related.

Creedence Clearwater Revival was composed of Doug Clifford, 79, singer-songwriter John Fogerty, 79, bassist Stu Cook, 79, and slate guitarist Tom Fogerty, who died at 48 in 1990. The band, inducted in 1993 to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, has hits such as 1969's Proud Mary, 1969's Bad Moon Rising, 1969's Down on the Corner, 1970's Up Around the Bend and 1971's Have You Ever Seen the Rain.
