Cubism is the major theme for artworks on show during "Hello, Picasso" which is running on the 2nd floor of Xspace Gallery, until Sept 30. This is a group exhibition by three artists -- Pang Torsuwan, Nawat Cubic and Demian -- who share their profound passion for Cubism and their enduring inspiration from the creations of Spanish painter Pablo Picasso, one of the most well-known masters of this art movement. Cubism is a style of art that takes landscapes, objects and people, and transforms them into cubes and geometric shapes.

It combines different perspectives of subjects such as front, side and rear views into a single picture, resulting in paintings with a unique beauty. A self-taught artist who has dedicated herself to oil painting, Pang portrays female nature in different aspects but without facial expressions, prompting viewers to feel something on their own. Having often seen various elements around him in daily life scattered and fragmented into beautiful geometric shapes since childhood, Nawat is inspired to bring images in his imagination to canvases for others to see.

Today, 100 pieces of his artworks are scattered among collectors in 20 countries. Formerly inspired by Impressionism, Post-Impressionism and Expressionism, Demian in 2017 turned to focus more on Cubism, Surrealism and other modern art movements. His subjects often include personal connections or interests such as still life, loved ones, pets, musicians and Buddhist themes.

XSpace Gallery is on Sukhumvit 71, Soi Phatthanawet 12, and is open daily from 10am to 5pm (except on Sundays). Visit xspace.gallery .
