Jack Morey, the co-owner of Morey’s Piers in Wildwood, N.J. , died last week at 63, the company announced.

“It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of Jack Morey, our beloved 2nd Generation Partner, and for the past three decades, the creative force behind Morey’s Piers. “Jack wasn’t particularly fond of titles, but was the company’s Executive Vice President, Chief Creative Officer, and, most importantly, champion of ‘it will be beautiful ..

. we change everything’,” a statement from Morey’s Piers read. The statement did not say how Morey died on July 19.

He and his brother Will Morey were second-generation owners. Will is the president and CEO of Morey’s Piers, as well as a member of the Cape May County Board of County Commissioners. The company said anyone who has visited Wildwood has been touched by Jack’s vision.

“The Rio Grande Avenue Gateway, the iconic ‘Wildwoods’ sign, the Wildwood Dog Park and Beach, the Socratic Outdoor Learning Center, the Doo-Wop style architecture, Starlux Mini Golf, and his latest project the Big Little 9 Golf Course are just a few, and of course, Morey’s Piers and Resorts, all bear Jack’s unique vision,” the statement read. “He drew inspiration from the most unlikely places and poured his passion for beauty, art, and human interaction into everything in which he was involved.” Jack is survived by his wife of 36 years, Karen, two children and three grandchildren.

“We will draw inspiration from Jack’s constant intrigue and inspiration from the world around him and, in turn, his love of life, people, and creativity,” the company stated. “For all of this, we, and anyone who spent time with Jack, are forever grateful.” Morey’s Piers and Water Parks is a sprawling theme park along the Wildwood beaches.

It includes three piers, two water parks and several hotels and restaurants. It has been family-owned and operated since 1969. Chris Sheldon may be reached at csheldon@njadvancemedia.
