Couple Katie Williams and Georgia Hull lash out after falling sick because their landlord refused to fix dangerous issue at their $1,000-a-week rental Sydney couple found black mould throughout apartment After 18-month long health battle they moved out READ MORE: Big Brother star on her non-traditional wedding By Brett Lackey For Daily Mail Australia Published: 04:20, 7 August 2024 | Updated: 04:20, 7 August 2024 e-mail View comments Katie Williams and Georgia Hull have spoken out about their health ordeal after their nearly $1,000-a-week Sydney apartment became infested with black mould. Williams, a beach sprinter and ex-Big Brother contestant, and Hull, a well known make-up artist, were renting the two-bedroom Rose Bay unit in Sydney's inner-east when they developed health issues about 18 months ago. 'I was getting rashes on my eyelids, I had really bad asthma, I had a tight chest.

.. I'd wake up with headaches feeling really hungover and groggy, not feeling well - and that was early on,' Williams told The Daily Telegraph .

She described how the mould - which was originally just patches on some of the walls and window crevices in the dated apartment - then spread. 'It got progressively worse. It was growing on our clothes, all over our furniture, paintings,' Williams said.

'Our health got worse and worse too and now I am on a steroid puffer and these tablets that are specifically for lungs, 'Black mould spores, if you disrupt them, you can breathe them in...

it can poison you...

I've had so many chest infections,' Hull added. The pair spent 18 months fruitlessly trying to get their landlord to rectify the issue while paying a combined $975-a-week in rent but eventually decided to move out after getting nowhere. Former Big Brother contestant Katie Williams (left) and make-up artist Georgia Hull (right) spent 18 months trying to get black mould removed from their rental before they moved out The pair said they both developed a string of illnesses from the spores of the mould (stock image) They think airflow and dampness caused the issue as the windows in their former apartment were painted shut and they have now chosen a newer, airier Bondi unit, though they are paying more rent.

The couple added they had to go through all their belongings and throw out many items which had been contaminated with the mould so it would not spread to their new house. They have also taken on a flatmate to help with the increased rent but felt they needed to stay in the Bondi area as that was where most of their work is based. The pair became engaged in February this year after dating since 2021.

'We've had many personal ups and downs in lockdown and we've helped each other through it all. We've laughed, we cried, we've danced and embraced it all,' Williams previously told Daily Mail Australia. Before Georgia I had dated guys! It's so different; it's an emotional bond like no other,' she said. 'I'm really proud of how we've handled our relationship. I was trolled and questioned after Big Brother about my sexuality, and I stand strong in who I am, and who I love.

' In April the couple said their wedding date was not yet decided. 'I have been busy trying to plan our own wedding (no date locked in as of yet) but getting the feelers out there on vendors, location, budgets and logistics,' Hull wrote on her Instagram stories. Meanwhile, Williams revealed that the 'non traditional' wedding will take place across two days within the next 12 months.

'Two brides. Two rings. Two days.

A non traditional WEDDING in potentially less than 12 months,' the Big Brother star captioned alongside a photo of their engagement. The pair have now relocated to Bondi from Rose Bay as they prepare for their wedding in the next 12 months The loved up couple also asked their friends and fans for recommendations and tips for their ceremony. Williams said although she didn't think she'd be marrying a woman a few years ago, she has 'never been happier'.

'I don't identify with labels, I'm just in love with my person and it feels really beautiful that we're getting married and can have this future together,' she said.
