A major coffee chain is set to shut a city centre site this month - after already closing DOZENS of sites this year. Costa Coffee is shutting the doors of its Inverness site later this month and the high street branch will close on Inglis Street in Inverness, Scotland. The hot drinks giant will close the branch for the final time on July 24.

Costa - which is rivalled by the likes of Starbucks, Caffe Nero and more - has said all staff working at the shop will be deployed to other branches. A Costa Coffee spokesperson said: “We can confirm that our Costa Coffee store on Inglis Street in Inverness is due to close for trade on the 24th of July. Customers can still enjoy their favourite Costa coffee at the nearest Costa Coffee store found in Eastgate Shopping Centre.

Taking to Facebook, which is owned by Meta, another said: "Gutted, it's the preferred choice out of that and eastgate." "There’s not enough coffee shops in the town centre as it is, what’s everyone going to do ? Make coffee using a kettle?" another asked.

In recent months, Costa has shuttered as many as eight sites across the country including in Church Street, Malvern, in Worcestershire . A spokesperson for Costa said at the time: "The Costa Coffee store on Church Street in Malvern will close for trade on the November 17, 20.
