A CORONATION Street star has been rushed to hospital for "last minute surgery." The actress, 33, who was a former fan favourite on the ITV soap, recently switched career to become a nail technician and has since set up a salon in Manchester . Georgia May Foote , who played Katy Armstrong on Coronation Street 's iconic Cobbles, updated her Instagram page for her GMFNails business on Saturday with troubling news of her medical issue.

She uploaded a text slide to her Instagram Stories with the words: "Thank you. "Clients booked in last week, I just wanted to let you know that I had last minute surgery today. "I'm not sure what the recovery is like or how quick I will be able to return.

Her previous post on her business grid was that of a "Greece nails" manicure with stylish blue and nude polish and delicate nail art.

Georgia has always been candid about her health battles with her online following. She begged fans to "be kind" as she addressed her vitiligo condition. The screen star lives with vitiligo, which the NHS describes as a long term condition caused by a lack of melanin, a pigment in the skin.

She previously shared pictures on Instagram page highlighting how the pigment on her skin is changing. The beloved British soap has been captivating audiences for decades. The show follows the lives of the residents as they navigate love, loss, family drama, and community struggles.

"So this is just a friendly reminder to those people to be kind. I’m sure the way it makes you feel is nothing in comparison to how the person with it feels. "I’m proud to be a voice for people like me with the condition.

I battle with how I feel about it every day. Today’s one of those days I remember there is nothing I can do about it. "So here we are.
