When the futuristic Folsom home with views of the Sacramento skyline hit the market last year, the listing agent at the time called it in the region. During construction in 2023, the residence — dubbed “Space Luxe” — drew tens of thousands of likes and shares on social media and attracted a steady stream of cars driving by for a look. Now, the hillside home that can be seen from Highway 50 East is getting a new owner.

(If you’re a passenger, look to the north side of the freeway after you pass East Bidwell Street and the Palladio shopping center.) A Folsom physician with a family of four has bought the house — — for $1.7 million, according to the buyer’s agent, Amrit Saini of Regal Real Estate in Folsom.

The deal closed Wednesday. The purchase of such a unique property might be considered a steal, considering it originally listed for $2.395 million and jumped to nearly $2.

5 million at one point. The property had recently gone into foreclosure, Saini said. “I really think the buyers are very lucky to buy it at this price because it’s below production cost,” Saini said.

“You cannot build this house at $1.7 million.” Saini, a broker with 20 years of experience in Sacramento, has sold other homes on Tobrurry Way.

With a few upgrades, the property’s value could quickly climb much higher that the selling price, he said. The buyers are “excited to move in” and have plans to further improve the property with landscaping and a pool, among other things, he added. “This house, I think, is worth $3 million to $5 million because the value and the views are just incredible,” he said.

The views aren’t the only draw. “I think the design of the house from the outside (and) inside is great,” Saini said I think this is one of its kind around Northern California. I haven’t seen any house like this.

” The steel-frame home spans 4,000 square feet and has four en-suite bedrooms. The focal point of the architecture is two cantilevered bedrooms that extend well beyond the main structure. The bedrooms have long decks offering views from Folsom of the Sacramento Valley.

Folsom is about 23 miles northeast of Sacramento. At front center of the property is an expansive deck that is partially cantilevered 40 feet above the ground. An open-concept kitchen and large great room with walls of glass lead out to the front deck, a dramatic space designed for large-scale entertaining and taking in city views at sunset.

A loft, set up as an office space, above the great room has a direct view of the valley. The lot sits on nearly one-third of an acre on a hillside on Tobrurry Way. The house is orientated toward the street for panoramic views as far as the eye can see.

A four-passenger elevator runs between the garage level and the second story. In addition to the four bathrooms, there’s a powder room near the front door. A long driveway leads to a tandem, five-car garage.

From the driveway, a curving, red steel stairway leads to the entry — which is actually around the back of house. The house has eight individual mini-splits for flexibility with heating and air conditioning. Each zone has its own remote control.

While the home’s futuristic design and incredible views attracted potential homebuyers, the biggest challenges to selling the house was the initially high listing price and finding a broker willing to provide home and fire insurance, Saini said. He eventually found a local broker before the sale. Saini said the residence’s location near recreational spots, the Palladio shopping center and Lifetime Fitness made it an appealing purchase, too.
