Conor McGregor has hit back at claims that he made Anthony Joshua drink his Forged Irish Stout after one of the heavyweight boxer's fights. McGregor was in attendance as Joshua defeated Robert Helenius at the O2 in London last August and celebrated with the Brit afterwards. The UFC star was seen giving Joshua a pint of his beer, with the former heavyweight world champion looking somewhat confused by the gesture.

This led to many fans claiming McGregor forced the drink on Joshua, but the Dubliner claims that was not the case. He exited the ring post his amazing victory and came straight to me and said “where is my Forged!” I gave him mine.

It was the first time that had happened at a fight. "It’s seriously tasty and incredibly refreshing you won’t get better! I don’t blame him one bit I am sure he enjoyed it thoroughly after the fight. So much so he ordered multiple keg loads of it to his local pub! Top man, top fighter, top Stout.

" Forged Irish Stout has sponsored a number of boxing events since launching, with McGregor also attending Katie Taylor's defeat to Chantelle Cameron at the 3Arena in May of last year. However, the brand's sponsorship of Taylor's rematch with Cameron, which she won at the same venue last November, was questioned ahead of the event after McGregor made a number of controversial tweets following a horrific stabbing incident in Dublin and the riots that followed. Promoter Eddie Hearn stated at the time that Matchroom Boxing had not considered removing Forged Irish Stout as a sponsor.

He said: "A brand is a brand. I think that Conor was never planning on coming to this event. He won't be there.

"I haven't read all the opinions, I know they've created controversy, everyone's got an opinion and I don't really even have one because I don't know enough about it. "He's been a massive supporter of Katie and of Irish boxing so it's a difficult topic. I think his attendance would be a different matter but he has never been planning to come to this one.
