Article content Canadian NHL star Connor McDavid is shedding his “boring hockey guy” image after a video emerges from his wedding afterparty earlier this summer. McDavid and interior designer Lauren Kyle tied the knot in Muskoka last month with a European-inspired ceremony and fairytale forrest themed reception. But one video circulating online has captured the attention of fans.

The Edmonton Oilers player was filmed having some fun at the wedding afterparty, dancing on his teammate Zach Hyman’s shoulders. The video was posted online by Canadian DJs LoudLuxury, although the original is no longer on their TikTok account. Copies of the video have been shared on social media.

In one version posted on X, McDavid can be seen from the DJ booth on the dance floor on Hyman’s shoulders surrounded by friends. Writing shown in the video says: “Connor McDavid finally beating the ‘boring hockey guy’ allegations.” On Reddit, users argued in the comments of a post with the video , discussing McDavid’s demeanour.

“But even if McDavid is a ‘boring hockey guy,’ who cares. He’s the best player in the world,” wrote one person. “He has no verbal personality, that’s why he’s boring,” wrote another person on Reddit.

One commenter had some insight into why McDavid appears to be boring, saying that since he’s such a good player, his personality is “the only thing people could really hold against him.” “He still kinda defaults to boring every now and then but not nearly as much as he used to in his first few seasons,” the person wrote. Meanwhile, more videos and photos of the wedding itself have been released, showing the rehearsal dinner, the welcome party, the ceremony, the reception and more of the afterparty.

Kyle shared clips of each event in a series of videos on Instagram. Muskoka is special to the couple because it’s where they got engaged, Kyle told Vogue Australia . The wedding took place Old Woman Island, a 16-acre island on Lake Muskoka, property rental company Jayne’s Luxury Rentals said in a Facebook post.

“It was a 10 day production, four events in different locations, and building infrastructures on an island with only boat access,” Kyle said. “I was really entrenched into all the finest details of the wedding. I wanted everything we did to have meaning.

” The celebrations kicked off with a rehearsal dinner on a vintage steamship that cruised around the lake. “We asked for our guests to come dressed in ‘old money themed attire’ to play into the steamship’s charm,” she told Vogue. Overall, Kyle wore five dresses by luxury brands, including labels like Chloe, Ralph Lauren and Vivienne Westwood.

The night ended with the afterparty that Kyle described as a “disco dream” featuring LoudLuxury. As more content comes out from McDavid’s wedding weekend, it’s possible he may continue to prove the “boring hockey guy” allegations wrong.
