A completion update at a housing development on the site of a former nightclub has been issued after the housebuilders ran into delays. Bede Homes, who are currently in the process of building the 21-home Beck View estate in Yarm, are progressing with their plans - but have slightly altered the timetable on the project. After targeting this summer for completion on the site, which is using the land which once housed Tall Trees nightclub, they have now pushed back the full completion of the houses until March next year, due to one of the contractors they were using going out of business.
Incomplete houses at the Bede Homes site (Image: NORTHERN ECHO) Despite having a wild past as the nightclub, which saw Girls Aloud play the venue and A-lister guests such as Chesney Hawkes frequenting it, it will now be home to 21 five-bedroom properties. Built almost on the spot where the dancefloor and bar area of Tall Trees was, the development will boast views of the nearby beck and include communal green space. As part of Bede Homes' ongoing project, The Northern Echo visited the housebuilder's site and met with one of the directors of the company, Richard Buckley.
Yarm Tall Trees (Image: NORTHERN ECHO) The first thing you notice is the sheer scale of development in this part of Yarm, near the train station, which seems to have houses wherever you look. But, as director of Bede Homes, Richard Buckley it doesn't feel 'overwhelming". He said: "The houses are made to be spacious and not cramped in like other estates.

"Yes, housing developments need to make a profit, but they also need to be liveable for families that choose this estate." Alongside the Beck View site, Bede Homes is also targeting a development in Sedgefield in the future.

Click here to find out more. Despite another chapter in the history of the former nightclub, Mr Buckley still remembers the past of the club, and how famous it was for the region.
He said: "If you ask anyone of a certain age about Tall Trees - they'll be able to tell you all about it. It's one of those places that's special to people growing up. "And it's nice to have a name like that linked with the housing estate.
While it's completely different from a nightclub, and we hope to provide luxury homes for families, we can appreciate Tall Trees and it putting Yarm on the map.".
