Pune: Commuters using the Rajaram Bridge Chowk on the busy Sinhagad Road are up in arms over the civic body’s delay in inaugurating the newly constructed flyover, which was scheduled to be completed and thrown open to the public by July. According to commuters, the flyover, once opened, will relieve daily traffic snarls as it will eliminate the need to halt at the junction during a commute from Vitthalwadi to Swargate. “We are pushing for the flyover’s opening at the earliest.

People are fed up with the traffic congestion in the area. The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) should take necessary measures,” local activist Nitin Kadam said. Kadam claimed the civic body does not display any deadline for various flyover projects that it is undertaking across the city.

“We can see that the flyover on Sinhagad Road is almost ready, barring a small patch of tarring, which can be completed in a day or two. The civic body should open the flyover for vehicular movement and not wait for the opening ceremony,” he said. Civic officials, however, said the tarring work could not be completed due to incessant rain.

The work is expected to be done in the next few days. “There are no deliberate delays. The tarring and other works are not possible during heavy showers.

We want to ensure that all basic works are completed before the flyover is thrown open to the public,” a civic official said. Meanwhile, the administration is also constructing a flyover on Sinhagad Road towards Wadgaon Budruk. This flyover is expected to be ready by December 2024.

Akhil Pendse, a resident of Hingne, said, “The traffic has become a complete mess owing to ongoing flyover work.” We also published the following articles recently BBMP to revive JC Road flyover project in Bengaluru BBMP received approval to implement the Minerva Circle-Hudson Circle elevated corridor project under the Brand Bengaluru initiative.
