Fans of the hit show Community are still holding out hope for the promised "six seasons and a movie", even though the original series wrapped up in 2015. Fast forward to nearly a decade later, Yvette Nicole Brown, who played Shirley Bennett on the NBC show, has confirmed that a film is indeed in the works, despite some setbacks. In a recent chat with The Wrap , the actress assured fans that the movie "is going to happen", revealing that the script is currently undergoing revisions.
This comes after reports of delays following the film's announcement in 2022. Brown clarified: "I think it's being reworked, but we all have read an entire, full script. So a script exists.
"I heard that we have the big credit in LA that gives you money to make the film. So we're definitely going to be doing it in LA." Joel McHale, who portrayed Jeff Winger on the show, previously took the blame for the movie's delay.
He told GQ that fans "can fully blame my schedule" after it was initially speculated that Donald Glover's busy schedule was the reason for the holdup in production, reports the Mirror . Discussing her own role in Community: The Movie, Brown explained: "For a minute, I wasn't confirmed, so they have to now change some things, because I am confirmed, and they can now change some things for Shirley's character as well. "So it's going to be really, it's going to be a good time," she added.
