Six community partners, including non-profits and local businesses, are teaming up to host the “Meet the Mountains Community Clean-up” on Sunday, Aug. 11. The event, aimed at improving the local environment, will run from 9 a.

m. to 12 p.m.



Volunteers are asked to meet at Riverside Taphouse, located at 635 E. Elk Ave. by 9 a.

m. The clean-up initiative, organized by Meet the Mountains, Responsible Stewardship, Keep Carter County Beautiful, Main Street Elizabethton, Hellbender Outfitters, and Riverside Taphouse, focuses on making Elizabethton a cleaner and more enjoyable place to live and play. Volunteers will target various areas, including the Tweetsie Trail, Downtown Elizabethton, and Covered Bridge Park, removing litter and trash.

A complimentary lunch will be provided at 11 a.m. for participants who register by Friday, Aug.

9. Additionally, Riverside Taphouse will offer $1 off the first beverage, alcoholic or non-alcoholic, for registered attendees. The event promotes a zero-waste approach, using reusable gloves and bags for collecting litter.

This free, family and pet-friendly event will provide all necessary materials, including trash bags and gloves. Participants are advised to dress appropriately for the weather and wear sturdy footwear. Register for this event at: https://docs.
