Prayagraj : The Bengali Welfare Association has formed a 14-member committee for the evaluation of idols and pandals during the Durga Puja . All members of the committee are experts in fine arts, said the association's secretary PK Roy. "While evaluating the idols, facial expression, their proportion, sense of rhythm and beauty, and grandeur will be of prime importance," he said.

Joint secretary of the association Ashit Kumar Roy said: "We believe the decoration of pandals is not complete unless attention is paid to its management." "Many puja committees spend lakhs of rupees on decoration of pandals, but no interest is shown towards management. Before giving marks to the pandal, the organisation will have to pay attention to important aspects, which will include the deployment of volunteers of Barwari, arrangement of drinking water for the devotees, CCTV cameras, fire extinguishing system, entry and exit routes, and space for men and women to stand inside the pandal from the Barwari side," said Roy.

The committee comprises Ravindra Nath Kushwaha, Kaveri Vij, Shefali Gupta, Shalini Ganguly, Sayoni Bhattacharya, Neetu Nishad, Varsha Srivastava, Sunita Gupta, Juhi Dwivedi, Vijeta Prajapati, Archana Pandey, Megha Bose, Ishwin Srivastava, and Renu Singh..
