More info Coleen Nolan's son, Jake Roche, 31, once looked set for stardom as he travelled the globe with the likes of Ed Sheeran and Ariana Grande , but he now finds himself living back home with his mum on Universal Credit .

Little over 10 years has passed since Jake's dreams were coming true when he pipped some of the worlds biggest names to number one in the UK charts with his pop-rock band Rixton releasing 'Me and My Broken Heart'. But the singer who was briefly engaged to Little Mix's Jesy Nelson has seen his fortunes dwindle in recent years, reports The Mirror . He initially looked to be following in the footsteps of his dad, Shane Richie who plays Alfie Moon in Eastenders , having starred as Isaac Nuttall in Emmerdale in 2010 before leaving to form a band two years later.

In an interview with The Times, he said the band first found fame in the US, saying: “We kicked off big time in America. We hung around with Biebs (Justin Bieber) a fair bit." As well as becoming pals with US stars, his band also signed to renowned record label Universal Music, but one day, his fortunes suddenly began to change.

He said: "My calendar was blocked out every single day from the age of 18 until 23, 24 and then just nothing. I'd never experienced failure in my whole life. Every audition I would go to I would get.

It blew me to smithereens." In the ensuing months, Jake broke up with his Jesy and moved in with Ed Sheeran who ended up taking him on tour. But, before long he moved back home with his mum and applied for Universal Credit and admitted that he is 'hyper-aware' that he is more fortunate than some people and raised the benefits of being a 'nepobaby'.

But, Jake is looking to the future with his new comedy musical 'Jake Roche: Neporrhoids! is at Pleasance Courtyard (Beside)' being performed at the upcoming Edinburgh Fringe Festival on August 25. Jake described the musical as a “classic story of a teen pop star who gets it all and loses it all”..
