1 2 Hisar: Haryana power minister and BJP leader Ranjit Singh on Tuesday said that he would contest the upcoming assembly elections from Rania despite Gopal Kanda ’s Haryana Lokhit Party — an ally of BJP — declaring its candidate from the constituency. “I will contest the election from Rania even if BJP ignores me. BJP should take care of itself.

Although I wish to contest from BJP only, I cannot leave politics,” Ranjit Singh said in Kalanwali of Sirsa district. “Since Kanda gave a statement that his party will contest elections in alliance with BJP on 15 seats and declared his candidate from Rania after CM Nayab Singh Saini met him, I called a workers’ meeting to send a message that I will contest from Rania constituency,” he said. Ranjit said that he has support base in 90 assembly seats and has the courage to shift 15,000 votes from here to Kalanwali seat alone.

Earlier, targeting Kanda, Ranjit had said that his only job is to win a seat and get change of land use (CLU) approved. Kanda reacted by saying Ranjit “does not have any support base in 90 seats but is a “bantadhar” (a mess), calling it the main reason why BJP lost a winnable seat of Hisar in the Lok Sabha elections. Kanda said Ranjit won the previous elections only due to aid of Ajay Singh Chautala and Abhay Singh Chautala while former CM Khattar gave him importance keeping in mind his family and age.

On allegations of getting CLU, he said if Ranjit proves that even one of them was done by him in the Khattar govt, he would give that CLU to him.
