Clipse has officially signed with Def Jam for their upcoming album, Let God Sort Em Out . The news was announced by Malice via Instagram, who posted a photo in the record label’s offices and in front of a screen that reads “Def Jam welcomes Clipse.” The rapper’s brother, Pusha T , is already signed to Def Jam on a solo deal, but this marks the first time the duo is working with Def Jam; they were previously with Star Trak, Arista, Jive, Re-up, Columbia and Elektra.
Let God Sort Em Out will mark the pair’s first studio effort in 15 years, with their last dating back to 2009’s Til the Casket Drops. Clipse shared in a previous interview that Pharrell will be producing the project in its entirety, while the likes of Nas, John Legend, Stove Good Cooks will join as featured guests. “I think the album shows the supreme maturation of a rap duo.
I think this is where you get the difference between taste and filler,” Push said . “This music is curated. This is a high taste-level piece of work.
You can only have that level of taste when you have the fundamentals down to a science. I think it’s been definitely missing. Then there’s the competitive aspect.
” Malice added, “It’s what rap should look like if you’re real about your craft, real about your experience, real about your storytelling.
