CHEYENNE — When you’re a performer or a musician, you often spend weeks preparing and rehearsing, if not months or years. You put in hours upon hours of hard work, and then, in the blink of an eye, it’s over. At least, that’s how it feels to the Cheyenne Symphony Orchestra’s music director and conductor, Maestro William Intriligator, whenever one of his symphonies come to an end.
“It’s really sad when a concert comes to an end after a long time of preparation, and a lot of people don’t realize that,” said Intriligator. “For me, some of this music is so meaningful and powerful and beautiful, and I get sad when I think about how it might be five or 10 years, or never, before I can conduct the pieces again. .
.. And how lucky are we that we just performed it and all the work we put into it (paid off) and now it’s just done.
” It feels like just yesterday that the symphony announced its lineup for the 70th season. On Nov. 16, the Cheyenne Symphony Orchestra will perform its second concert of the season, “Classical to Contemporary,” to follow up with “Mesmerizing Melodies” in October.
Compared to “Mesmerizing Melodies,” “Classical to Contemporary” will have a smaller orchestra due to the nature of the pieces. And although the pieces are still fairly large for this show, there’s just a touch more subtlety than in their previous show. The show will begin at 7:30 p.
