'Classics Over Sands' took place in Grange in August with organisers now visiting Coniston Mountain Rescue after the final donations were totted up. With £8,500 raised in total, this year has broken the record for money brought in by the event which will go towards other local causes as well as the rescue team. Chairman Derek Seward presented Coniston Rescue with a cheque worth £3,500 with a similar amount going towards Coeliac UK.

The rest of the money has been given to the local scouts group for Grange-over-Sands and the Cumbrian Wildlife Trust.
