Red Bull 's latest accounts have revealed the eye-watering pay increases taken by team principal Christian Horner and advisor Helmut Marko in 2023. Mercedes boss Toto Wolff , McLaren chief Andrea Stella and Ferrari 's Frederic Vasseur are all paid big bucks to oversee three of the biggest teams on the F1 grid. But Horner leads the way in terms of basic salary, with the 50-year-old taking home £8.
92million last year. That figure is up a whopping £880,000 from 2022, with Horner evidently rewarded for another dominant year in charge of the team, during which Max Verstappen won another world title. Marko's coffers have also been boosted by the team's success.
As well as advising Red Bull 's wider motorsports department, the 81-year-old serves as a close ally and mentor to Verstappen, and the head of the company's junior driver development programme. His work has been recognised accordingly, with a £3.5m pay packet in 2022 doubled to £7m in 2023.
Earlier this year, Marko agreed a new contract with Red Bull which will take him up until the end of the 2026 season. Red Bull 's increased outlay for Horner and Marko comes despite the fact the team are staring down the barrel of a painful £15.4m hit this year.
Each position in the Constructors' Championship is believed to be worth around £7.7m. Red Bull blew away their competition in 2022 and 2023, but resurgences for McLaren and Ferrari have seen them tumble down to third this season with only three Grands Prix remaining.
