A classic tale has brought some sparkling family-friendly magic to Sheffield as Chitty Chitty Bang Bang landed at the city’s Lyceum Theatre on Tuesday. The famous car, which has been in the hearts of many since the film of the same name was released in 1968, dazzled and wowed the packed Sheffield city centre venue at the start of the acclaimed musical’s two-week residency in the city. It was brought to life in a spellbinding manner similar to how we’ve seen with the DeLorean and Magic Carpet in the Back to The Future and Aladdin musicals.

For those somehow unfamiliar, the plot follows the exploits of Caractacus Potts and his family. Encompassing their love for the aforementioned car. Adam Garcia effortlessly steps into Dick Van Dyke’s shoes, no mean feat, for the role of the head of the family inventor.



The widower left to look after his children Jemima and Jeremy - portrayed wonderfully by young stars Gracie Cochrane and Roshan Thomson. All with little help, and mischief, from Grandpa Potts. The character carried in real ‘spring in his step’ fashion by Emmerdale legend Liam Fox .

A part the star is clearly reveling in following his 2023 exit from the ITV soap . Him providing the comic relief alongside Vulgaria’s baron and baroness. Pair Martin Callaghan and Jenny Gayner bring lots of laughs during the musical’s second act.
