Yet another Chinese brand is coming to Australia, and it’s set to bring a small electric hatchback. GAC Aion has previewed the UT ahead of its official reveal at this week’s Guangzhou motor show. The brand, part of the GAC Group, is calling the UT its “third global strategic model” following the second-generation V SUV and the RT sedan.

AGA Group, appointed GAC’s Australian distributor in 2022, told CarExpert earlier this year it planned to introduce the Aion brand here during the second half of 2025. A mid-sized electric SUV and an electric hatch – now understood to be the UT – were said to be the brand’s first planned vehicles for Australia. GAC Aion has published a series of exterior images on Chinese social media revealing the UT, which will rival the MG 4 , BYD Dolphin and GWM Ora .

It has also released comic book-style interior illustrations, revealing free-standing digital instrument and infotainment screens, plus a floating centre console with a covered bin and a pair of cupholders. A large shelf sits on the floor at the base of the centre stack. While the company hasn’t released any specifications, many of these details were revealed earlier this month in a Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology filing shared by CarNewsChina .

The UT measures 4270mm long, 1850mm wide and 1575mm tall on a 2750mm wheelbase.
