Monday, January 6, 2025 China Airlines has taken a significant step toward promoting workplace gender equality by unveiling new pantsuit uniforms for its female front-line service staff. Reflecting global aviation trends, the airline now allows women in roles such as ground crew, ticketing staff, and flight attendants at Songshan Airport, Taoyuan Airport, and Kaohsiung Airport to choose between pantsuits or skirts based on personal preference or job requirements. This progressive move is designed to improve work comfort and enhance overall service quality.
The new pantsuit option is being progressively introduced to employees, with the first batch available for immediate use. Designed for practicality and safety, both the pants and skirt uniforms are crafted from anti-static fabrics to suit demanding work environments. Employees can now alternate between the two styles, taking into account factors like job tasks and seasonal weather.
A flight attendant expressed enthusiasm for the change, describing the pantsuit as a “breath of fresh air” that retains the airline’s signature elegance while allowing for greater ease in performing duties. Tasks such as picking up items, adjusting luggage, greeting passengers, or cabin cleaning can now be handled with more finesse and comfort, particularly in colder climates. The choice empowers attendants to adapt their attire based on their responsibilities and weather conditions, improving both efficiency and job satisfaction.
