The stunning grounds of historic Shaw House have been transformed into a sculpture park for the summer, with artworks by acclaimed sculptors from all over the UK. This free to enter exhibition gives visitors the chance to walk around, view and even purchase a creative mix of traditional, modern and cutting-edge contemporary work. With 14,000 visitors last summer – this year’s Altered States Open Air Sculpture Exhibition is open seven days a week from 11am to 4pm and very often there are other activities – some theatrical, some musical – happening within the grounds.

The Altered States Open Air Sculpture Exhibition opens every summer for two months and welcomes all by having free entrance and a walk around the grounds of the historic house. Refreshments are also available at the café on-site. Photographs are encouraged, as are children and dogs on a lead.

“I travel extensively around England, hunting and gathering pieces for the show and seeking out sculptors suitable for display,” says curator Jim Crockatt. “This year we have 75 sculptures by 23 sculptors, who will be exhibiting their work until September 29. “I hope you will be able to join me in my passion for this most magnificent of shows.
