Quite the fumble. Kansas City Chiefs heiress Ava Hunt underwent emergency surgery after falling down a mountain during a hike. Her mother, Tavia Shackles, announced the scary news in the predawn hours of Tuesday via her Instagram Story, which Hunt reposted.

“This little thang fell down the mountain today on a hike🥾 & went to the ER for surgery on a deep wound 😢,” Shackles wrote atop a photo of the pair. “It’s been a looong day.” Shackles made sure to “praise God” that her 18-year-old daughter was “in recovery and already smiling” before asking her followers, “Please pray for a quick & complete recovery! 🙏🏻.

” Upon reposting the sentiment, Hunt added, “🫶🏼🫶🏼🫶🏼.” An hour later, Hunt — whose father is Chiefs CEO Clark Hunt — shared a picture of her left knee all bandaged up as the 2024 Paris Olympics played on the TV in front of her. “Update: surgery went very smoothly and I’m back at home watching my favorite @simonebiles!!” Ava wrote atop the image, which was clearly snapped from the couch.

Though she said she was “feeling great,” she admitted that she “might still be a little drugged up 😆.” Ava concluded her message by thanking her followers for their “sweet messages and prayers!! 🤍.” The blond beauty graduated from Covenant School — a private Christian high school in Dallas — in June, at which time she announced that she had committed to the Southern Methodist University cheer team.

It’s unclear how her injury will affect her ability to cheer come the fall. Shackles and Clark — an SMU alum — are also parents to Ava’s sister, Gracie Hunt, and her brother, Knobel Hunt, who plays soccer at the same university..
