According to the Cheonan city government, Sunday, the festival attracted a total of 880,000 visitors for five days from Wednesday.

Marking its 20th anniversary, this year's event was the largest ever, featuring 4,000 performers from both home and abroad, representing 54 countries. Starting with the grand final of the festival's international dance contest, the closing ceremony hosted Cheonan Pungmul and the City Dance Company's performances, followed by an awards event for the contest's winners. "I believe the Cheonan World Dance Festival has now become an international festivity with fun and joy.



More than 880,000 spectators visited this year's event for five days," Cheonan Mayor Park Sang-don said during the closing ceremony at Choenan Stadium on Sunday. The city said about 870,000 visitors and performing artists joined last year's festival, generating about 43.3 billion won in direct and indirect revenue for the local community.

This year's revenue is believed to surpass last year's, it added. In 2009, the festival was recognized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism as one of the country's 25 best local festivals, maintaining this distinction for thr.
